Northern Tier Canoe Expedition Aug. 2‐13, 2013

posted Feb 15, 2013, 9:14 PM by Eric Schuur
If you liked canoeing the Russian River.....   Troop 57 is putting together a crew this summer to explore the
waters of Northern Tier, the original High Adventure program in BSA, since 1923.  Many moons ago, T57's last
Northern Tier crew ventured north from Atikokan  into Crown Lands and returned with tales of adventure,
and an experience of a lifetime. This summer, we'll follow in the footsteps of the fur traders and explore south
from Atikokan: Quetico Provincial Park --- described as a gorgeous and unspoiled wilderness, an ancient land
of majestic granite cliffs, spectacular waterfalls, lush forests and interconnected lakes with an international
reputation for unparalleled  wilderness canoeing.  We’ll experience awesome fishing,  pictographs, the cry of
the loon,  hoots of barred owl, the majesty of bald eagles and osprey, and  almost guaranteed  nightly moose
sightings, as well as otter, beaver, deer.  Border canoe crossing from Canada to US may be possible.
