Troop 57 Elkhorn Slough Kayak Adventure (May 4)

Explore  Elkhorn  Slough  -­‐  one  of  the  last  coastland  wetlands  in  California.  Located  on  the  Monterey   Bay  National  Marine  Sanctuary,  it  is  among  the  best  places  for  viewing  marine  life.  Elkhorn  Slough   is  home  to  otters, seals,  sea  lion  and  a  variety  of  birds.  You'll  kayak  past  the  Pacific  outlet  and   eastward  up  the  slough  taking  in  the  scenery  as  you  paddle  up  this  amazing  waterway.    

Date:       Sunday,  May  4        Leave  7:00  AM;  Return  ~  2:00  PM   Location:     Elkhorn  Slough,  Monterey  Bay  National  Marine  Sanctuary   Activities:     Kayaking,  navigation,  waterfowl,  marine  mammals,  photography   Capacity:     up  to  12  participants.  Register  early  to  assure  your  space.   Requirements:  1.  BSA  Swimmer.  (certified  in  a  BSA  swim  test  at  Oljato  or  as  part  of  1st  class  reqs)   h]p://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php?Xtle=BSA_Swim_Test   2.  Kayakers  must  complete user’s  rental  and  participation  waivers.  3.  Completed  2014/15  T57  Registration  and  current   BSA  Medical  Forms  (A/B/C)  on  file.     Cost:  $  50.00  includes  1⁄2  of  2-­‐person  kayak  rental,  supplies  and  transportation.     Equipment:  Wear  swim  suit.  Bring  synthetic  shirt/sweater/pants,  water-­‐appropriate  shoes  –  you   will  get  wet.  No  cotton  clothes.  User  provides windbreaker, splash jacket, paddle,  and  kayak.   Food:  Bring  snacks/lunch,  1  liter  water  bo]le  and  $10  for  a  food  stop  on  the  drive  home.   Reply  Deadline:  RSVP  no  later  than  April  22nd  and  send  a  non-­‐refundable  check  made  out  to   “Troop  57,  BSA”.
