Memorial Day Flag Planting

On the chilly morning of May 23, 2026, Scouts from Troop 57 gathered at Golden Gate National Cemetery. Present were many other troops in the surrounding area, and everyone was there to honor the graves of the fallen by planting flags. After a somber but heartfelt introduction by certain members who served in the military, each troop went to their assigned section. Troop 57’s section was a nice rolling hill which went all the way to the end of the cemetery. We divided into groups and began planting flags next to the graves. Soon, sunlight began to filter through and warm up the surroundings making the atmosphere more brisk and comfortable. Scouts planted flags and honored the fallen and after hours of work, they stopped to eat donuts. The outing was a way to pay respect to those who gave their lives in battle and unite the community.
