Moonlight Run (9/17) Service Project Report

  • Ellen Kim

Last night, we had 18 scouts and 6 adult volunteers for the Moonlight Run event at Baylands (Palo Alto). We all met at 5:30pm at the baseball field located next to Baylands Athletic Center where we registered and had free pizza provided by the event organizers. The scouts wore their Class A uniforms to show the community who we were and also to keep track of all of the scouts. Then each of the scouts lined up behind an adult registration volunteer and we were responsible for pulling t-shirts (extra small, small, medium, large, extra large) and giving it to the runners. Some of us also had to take registration forms to the race office, fill and pass out water for runners who completed the race, and put away empty t-shirt boxes. Everyone did a great job!

After we were finished, we all got a free Moonlight Run t-shirt and some of the scouts went to the exhibition tables for bagels, coffee cake, etc. It was an awesome service project and I hope our troop decides to volunteer next year.

Thank you Ms. Hanna and Mr. Kim for being the adult leads for this outing and thank you Ms. Stark for being the trip coordinator.
