Summer of 26′ Philmont Outing

Sup Troopers, welcome back to another radical blog post from one of your webmasters for the 2026 Fall Term – Give it up for Aaron Chang!!! Wait why aren’t you clapping right now. You clearly cared enough about what I had to say to click on this post. Clap please, Aaron insists. Yes, I did just refer to myself in third person twice.

Today’s blog post is about the fabled trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. This trip occurred at the start of the summer from June 8th to June 20th, for 12 days. However, this trip started MUCH further back for a lot of us.

You gotta understand, they were hyping up this trip and telling downright NIGHTMARISH stories about Philmont. Sumthin along the lines that we’d be backpacking in “waist deep mud”. Yeesh. Our training hikes for the trip also started way before this, around the fall of 2024. That’s right 2024. Most of the scouts in our troop now were still in diapers and pacifiers back then!

We also linked up with 2 Eagle Scouts from Troop 75 in Los Altos, who were absolutely fantastic crew members might I say, and told stories about their youthful times that, yeesh, I’m not sure if I can say on a PG site like this. If you really wanna know come ask me about it at the next troop meeting, and bring your government issued ID. Anyhow, the crew flew out on June 07th to Denver, Colorado, where they then drove a short bit to the Ranch.

Now there’s a lot I could say about this trip, but why waste the limbic dexterity of my fingers typing that? You probably already skipped down here to watch the attachment.

With all the photos from the trip, Sumedh Chakka and Aaron Chang(thas me btw), spent hours in the workshop curating this 4 minute, bit-sized video, with copyright music for you to enjoy.

So until next time, stay frisky scouts.
