Troop 4057 Order of the Arrow Election

On December 17, 2020, Troop 4057 held their very first Order of the Arrow Election.

The Order of the Arrow (OA) is the honor organization for Scouts BSA and recognizes scouts who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. In order to be put on the ballot, scouts must be First Class or above and have 15+ nights of camping. Five of these nights must come from one long-term camping experience like Oljato or Emerald Bay, and 10 nights come from overnight or weekend trips.

During the election, anyone receiving at least half of the votes is elected, and scouts in the troop can vote for as many people as they want. For the December 2020 election, five scouts from Troop 4057 (Rachel Snyder, Rae Sox-Harris, Ellen Kim, Marisol Meier, and Vivian Wu) met the aforementioned requirements and were put on the ballot.

An OA representative helped oversee and conduct the election, and all five candidates received enough votes to be elected into the Order of the Arrow. The next step is to participate in an induction ceremony called the Ordeal, which is designed to teach many significant values. Congratulations to these scouts, and we hope many more scouts will be up for election next term!
